Questions so far?

I imagine that with a new school year and a new school you have some questions. Please feel free to ask away at any questions you have so far. I guarantee that if you are wondering something, someone else is wondering the same thing and is probably to shy to ask. What's the worst thing that can happen??? Well, that would be that we don't know the answer yet. And if we don't know, we can to find out. So please! Ask away!!! If your just tuning into the blog, and have a question, please ask. We will be checking back to see if there are new questions for us to answer throughout the summer.
Depending on the question and response we will answer as a new blog post or as another comment. So bring on the questions!!

  1. I'm sure this is not super high on the priority list and you have a TON of things to do but I thought I'd mention it to get it on the radar at least. Has the school enrolled in Box Tops For Education yet? I save them and would like them to go to Purefoy obviously. If not, you can enroll by calling this number: If your school does not participate in Box Tops for Education, ask your school principal or administrator to enroll in the program by calling 1-888-799-2444, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. CST, seven days a week. I would be willing to be our school coordinator for this program as well. I think it is a good cause that doesn't get enough attention and could provide extra funds for our children's stellar education. Just let me know! beccasupermom@gmail.com

  6. Will there be added parking spaces in the future? Will the kids have an area to
play soccer, football, etc. during recess as they currently do at Pink
    Elementary?

My biggest concern is safety for kids having to walk/ride bikes from eldorado fairways and country club ridge. Even with a sidewalk, Eldorado is a SIX lane expressway where cops give tickets on a weekly basis. The sidewalks are also not complete in our neighborhoods which forces kids to ride on the street. Also, no one has mentioned the golf green that is totally open at eldorado. A child could easily be hit in the head by a golf ball flying towards the green since there are no barriers between the street area and the golf course, and there are certainly golfers there during school travel times. And finally, our community park within our neighborhood just experienced and attack on a 16 yearold boy and a 12 year old boy. I know the district takes student safety seriously, but there seems to be many factors that have not been addressed. When I contacted the district I was told it would be monitored after school began and I just keep picturing an accident like the one at Pink all over again. I would like to see more of a proactive approach than a reactive approach.

  9. The city is in charge of deciding where sidewalks will be placed. We agree that a proactive approach is the best. We have been meeting with the city and FISD officials, that are apart of a safety committee, to regularly to make sure that everyone is working with children's safety as the number one priority. We are hoping to soon have confirmation on getting some school bus routes to help transport of kids safely to and from school. I am not aware of the golf green, but I am sure you could contact the golf course about this or your HOA. That is something that the district has no control over, but is a very valid concern.

  10. Does anyone know if it is too late to buy the school supply list from the epipack website? If so, any other alternative than just buying all the needed supplies at the store? I'm kicking myself for my laziness...
